Current State

The existing system is nearing the end of its lifecycle, so we decided to build a new, more efficient and stable platform. The old data structure is inadequate and requires a complete redesign. In short, the entire system will be reorganized. The current platform holds extremely valuable data over 250 million records and it’s only a matter of time before it fails.

Solution

Asymmetric replication enables a smooth migration to the new database without risks or downtime. Both systems can run in parallel while synchronizing data in real time. This approach gives time for gradual development, testing, staff training, and administration, without extra workload or interruptions. Unlike standard migrations, asymmetric replication allows extended testing phases and prevents abrupt cutovers. The old system can remain active until the new one is fully stable and ready.

Asymmetric replication ensures that data is never duplicated manually. Any change in one system is mirrored in the other. The replication bridge supports various data transformations from syncing tables with different structures to entirely new storage concepts. Clear programming rules enforce best practices and reduce errors. Changes are never applied directly to the production database; they are made in the development environment and deployed via controlled difference procedures.
